As Youngstown’s 52nd Mayor, Derrick McDowell is dedicated to serving at the pleasure of the people who deserve real transformative change. At the forefront of his agenda is raising the standard around city services and residents’ quality of life. A cornerstone of Mayor McDowell’s vision is the work of “Reclaiming Our Identity” as we rebuild our industry.
A proud, native son of the Southside of the City of Youngstown, his genuine love and care for his hometown has passionately marked his public service. Mayor McDowell has advocated on the local stage all through his entrepreneurial journey. Most often he is known for his work as the Founder of The Youngstown Flea. He has additionally served as the former “Community Engagement and Inclusion Coordinator” for Wean Park and the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre. He is the Founder of Hola Fest Youngstown (Hispanic Heritage Cultural Celebration), and previously held a position at AT&T in corporate leadership for 12 years of his professional career.
