Reclaiming Our Identity is our well-defined plan to re-establish exactly who we are, with the clear vision to know, exactly where we’re going. Never again can we allow anyone to own our narrative. It’s time we take back and tell our own story.

 

Reclaiming Our Identity encompasses a deep sense of community pride, and a sense of self that exists throughout the entire City Of Youngstown and beyond. Once embedded into our community policy, process and planned agenda it will tap into the ambitions and potential of the City Of Youngstown. It’s out of a well-defined Youngstown Identity that we will reinvigorate Youngstown Industry.

 

Reclaiming Our Identity is a shared vision, and a shared goal, where individual plans and personal agendas must give way to a shared identity that guides us into a new City Of Youngstown. When we clearly define who we are, it will help clearly determine where we’re going. Reclaiming Our Identity includes:

  • working together, using our culture, our character and our integrity to open up the doors to a modern & responsive City Hall;

  • honoring, engaging and empowering the people; residents right here, can help solve the many quality of life challenges facing our neighborhoods;  

  • boldly and fiercely becoming champions of Youngstown’s accomplishments;
  • operating within a newfound, citywide, Educational & Academic hunger and rigor;
  • leaning all the way into our “grit” and letting our Athletic talent roar;
  • solidifying our place as being renowned for our Arts & Entertainment culture and community;
  • deeply developing our Entrepreneurial  & Economic Development Acumen;

Reclaiming Our Identity is how we take our rightful place across the City, within the Mahoning Valley, the State of Ohio and well into the region. It’s well past the time to “turn the page” on allowing others to tell us who we are. We’re writing a new story and forging our chosen future —one in which Youngstown residents have the opportunity to create a better life and future for themselves and their families.
