- This campaign is about making a commitment to use the Office of the Mayor to champion a city-wide campaign around these core challenges:
- Elevating Parent/Family engagement in the learning journey.
- Strengthening pre-k enrollment and “on-grade” reading level learning.
- City-wide incentives around academic attendance.
ENGAGE, EDUCATE AND EMPOWER OUR RESIDENTS.
“Education For Us All” includes making a deep commitment to the resources needed for both, the education of our residents and the education of our scholars. An engaged public, particularly as decisions are made, leads to a more informed decision-making process, resulting in stronger solutions to our problems. In listen to the voices of Youngstown families and vested community members, it proves that nothing less than “best-in-class” educated scholars, is what we all want for across the entire city. To do this we MUST have:
- Transparency from City Hall.
- Accountability from our leaders
- Direct communication.
- Character, Integrity & Respect for residents.
Reclaiming Our Identity is a clarion call to empower our people; to better inform them and to educate ALL who live, learn, work, and seek to return here. Together we must arrive at a foundational place where Education For Us All is vital in both supporting traditional districts (including non-traditional/charter schools), as well as having a focus on the education of the residents within the entire City.
Reclaiming Our Identity around academics requires a culture and commitment to education for us all. That is who we are. That’s will be what we are to be known for.
