INVESTING IN EVERY PART OF THE CITY.
- Recognize and revitalize each of the city’s 31 neighborhoods. This is Derrick’s top priority. Leadership focused on investing in all parts of the city; bringing back local shops and plazas, family-sustaining jobs, addressing the shortage of affordable, quality housing, and reimagine our local economy, that what this is about. We do that by:
- Recognizing that Downtown is a neighborhood and work to restore its vibrancy for the good of the entire City.
- Creating a foundational strategic plan for downtown, with the help of downtown ANE the neighborhoods who support it.
- Directly bridging the downtown, as part of the 31 neighborhoods, to help support inner-city revitalization (broker community sponsorships with downtown businesses, offer space utilization, create a downtown Block Watch fund to support Community Groups).
- Build a “two way street” of support. Downtown must work to support neighborhoods, neighborhoods must work to support downtown.
EVERY STREET - EVERY HOME
Our shared priorities are clear: neighborhood revitalization and public safety is what we all want for AND across the entire city. To do this we MUST have:
- A commitment to “priority projects” in every ward.
- Accountability for every tax dollar that funds our street resurfacing, street lights, sidewalk repairs, traffic calming, expanded blight reduction efforts AND building up our neighborhoods.
Reclaiming Our Identity around ALL 31 Neighborhoods requires a commitment to who we are and what we are to be known for.
